Model History:

Indeed, Porsche can claim more than 30,000 race victories in almost every motorsport series worldwide, and while many of these successes have been achieved with immensely powerful specialist race cars like the evocative 917 and 956, the iconic 911 sports coupe is the bedrock on which the peerless racing reputation of the Stuttgart marque has been built.

Designed and manufactured by Porsche Exclusive, a department of the factory dedicated to providing customers with special vehicles which fulfil their special wishes, the limited series 911 Carrera S Endurance Racing Edition is a celebration of motorsport-inspired design and race track-oriented chassis dynamics combined with a high degree of personalisation. Presented at Le Mans in 2016 this limited edition is was created to commemorate this success endurance racing, the French circuit is also a special place for Porsche, with a record 17 wins in the race.

The exterior livery is inspired by the Porsche Team race cars in the World Endurance Championship (WEC). The car was offered in three solid colours; White, Guards Red and Black. With the former, the decorative decal set on the sides is in Black. A grey tone is used on vehicles in Black to achieve a similar contrast, and emphasise and sporting contours of the 911. High-gloss black accents provide further sporting cues, to the wheels, mirror housings, LED headlights and badging on the rear of the car.

The athleticism of the 911 is further honed with Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) fitted as standard, in combination with the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) Sports chassis with -20mm lowered ride height. The rear axle steering is shared with the GT3 and RS models, and heightens responsiveness in corners. And the Sport Chrono package - with Mode switch on the steering wheel - enables the driver to select chassis and engine settings according to preference.

As is typical of the 911, at the rear of the Carrera S Endurance Racing Edition lies a 3.0-litre flat-six developing 420 hp (309 kW). The completely new engine generation with twin turbocharging in the 911 Carrera has raised power, efficiency and also intensified the emotional driving experience.

The new Porsche engines are characterised by significant torque, with maximum pull of 500 Nm in the Carrera S delivered constantly from 1,700 rpm up to 5,000 rpm, thus ensuring responsive performance. At the same time, with a maximum engine speed of 7,500 rpm the new engine clearly exceeds the top revs of conventional turbo engines – and, of course, is underscored by the typical sonorous Porsche flat-six engine sound, emphasised in this model by the standard sports exhaust system.

The 911 Carrera S Endurance Racing Edition was available with the Porsche-Doppelkupplung PDK double-clutch gearbox offered as an option. With PDK in combination with the standard Sport Chrono Package, the 0-62mph benchmark is covered in just 3.9 seconds. Top speed is 191 mph.

This wonderful example is one of the 235 Racing Endurance Editions built by Porsche Exclusif Manufactur. Finished in metallic Black with gloss black wheels, the car is quickly distinguished by its sticker livery which remains on the bonnet, roof and rear engine cover, giving the car and overall more discreet look.

Inside, the Porsche Exclusive themes of individualism, passion for detail, craftsmanship and tradition emphasise the sporting ambience of the cabin. Highlights include carbon interior trim and illuminated door sill guards with ‘911 Carrera S Endurance Racing Edition’ motifs, red seat belts and the Porsche crest embossed on the head restraints. A ‘12 o’clock marking’ on the steering wheel in contrasting red leather and ‘Porsche Intelligent Performance’ embossed on the centre armrest further underline the motorsport tradition.

This low mileage example with just 25,000 km is even rarer as instead of the standard 420 horspower, the car was fitted with the optional X51 power upgrade giving the car 450PS. Combined with the lowered suspension and GT3 rear axle fitted to this limited edition, it is in fact a kin to a 991 GTS, albeit rarer and with a slightly more GT configuration.
